Sasha Allen is the only openly transgender contestant to have reached all the Battle Rounds of The Voice Live Shows. It is the norm for 21 seasons. Newtown's pair, Jim Allen and Sasha Allen are now in the Top 8 in the 21-year history of The Voice Live Shows! Sasha declared that he was transgender at the time he presented their audition package during the Blind Auditions. According to Parade.com they said this wasn't a decision that was made in a hurry. Sasha was transgender in high school and stated that it was challenging to disclose such a vulnerable side of himself to individuals. The week before, during fans week, witnessing the emotion of people, their reactions and the way the people reacted was worth the effort. We performed the song prior to The Voice even existed.
